Alejandro Garnacho’s departure from Manchester United seems almost certain, with his personal photographer hinting at an imminent exit. The 20 year old winger has reportedly been given the green light to seek a new club after a fallout with coach Ruben Amorim.
Despite Napoli’s rejected £40 million bid in January, it’s rumoured that an offer in the region of £60-70 million could seal the deal for Garnacho’s transfer. As the transfer window progresses, no clubs have yet shown a willingness to meet such valuation.
Konrad Borzyskowski, Garnacho’s photographer, fuelled speculation by posting a series of season snaps on Instagram with the caption: “One last time in @manchesterunited red… @garnacho7 under the microscope.”
While it’s unclear if Borzyskowski has direct insight into Garnacho’s future, he is well-connected within football circles.
Garnacho himself appears keen to remain in Britain, with Chelsea emerging as a potential destination. The Argentine’s engagement with Chelsea‘s content on social media, including liking a post from their new signing Liam Delap, has only intensified rumours linking him with a switch to Stamford Bridge.
Despite boasting a wealth of attacking talent, Enzo Maresca‘s frontline is notably weaker on the left, particularly after the Blues opted to shell out £5m to avoid their obligation to buy Jadon Sancho for between £20m and £25m.
Both Arsenal and Aston Villa have been linked with Garnacho. However, it appears Arsenal may lose out on their top wide target Nico Williams, who reportedly favours a move to Barcelona.
Villa, on the other hand, will likely need to sell players before they can make any new signings due to worries about breaching PSR rules. Atletico Madrid, Garnacho’s former club, have naturally been connected with him.
Erik ten Hag‘s return to management at Bayer Leverkusen has similarly sparked rumours of a potential reunion. Any fee received for Garnacho will be pure profit for United as he’s considered a homegrown player, boosting the funds available for Amorim.
The signing of Matheus Cunha for £62.5m has already made a significant impact on them, while Bryan Mbeumo – who is believed to favour a move to United over following Thomas Frank to Tottenham – will demand a similar price, if not more. And with the hunt for a new striker also on the cards, sales will be crucial in the coming weeks.
