Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr began the season with a thumping 5-0 win over Al Taawoun at the King Abdullah Sport City Stadium in Buraidah on Friday. Joao Felix shone for the away side, scoring a hattrick on his Saudi Pro League debut.
Al Nassr fielded a revamped attack under new manager Jorge Jesus as Ronaldo and Sadio Mane were joined by new signings Joao Felix and Kingsley Coman, and the debutants shone for the away side. Felix opened the scoring with a sweeping left-footed finish in the seventh minute to set the side on its way.

Al Nassr’s lead was doubled by its talisman Ronaldo from the penalty spot after Waleed Al-Ahmed blocked a cross with his arm. Coman added the third a minute later with a brilliant looped header that caught the Al Taawoun keeper off his line after a long ball forward.
Felix then sealed the deal with a stunning effort from distance that gave him a second of the game. His final goal was more fortunate, as he seemed to miss with only a defender between him and the goal before the referee blew his whistle to signal that the ball had crossed the line.
The victory sent Al Nassr to the top of the Saudi Pro League, and provided a strong reminder of the quality it will bring to the title race this season
