“When we have news, we will announce it,” Ten Hag explained on Thursday. “You’ve seen the market, it is quite quiet still. We have done business, we have done two deals. It’s about timings, the market, the market options, the right moment and the right things.
“I don’t go into details, where we are now in recruitment, what we are working on. We know what we are doing, we are in a good position with the squad and just wait, patience and in the right moment we will tell you.
“We did [buy] already, we bought already. As I said, we have a squad where in every position there is double occupation.”
According to Sky Sports, United have held initial discussions with Burnley over Berge as they explore a summer transfer for the 26-year-old.
The Norway midfielder still has three years remaining on his current deal at Turf Moor but is keen to move to Old Trafford after starring for Burnley last season following his move from Sheffield United a year ago.
Berge, who moved to England when he joined the Blades from Genk in 2020, featured 37 times for the Clarets in the Premier League last term as his side finished 19th with just five wins to their name.
If United can’t agree a deal with Burnley to sign Berge, they could turn their attention to Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana, who is also on their radar. The Red Devils believe there is a deal to be done as the 25-year-old France international only has one year remaining on his contract.
United also retain interest in Palmeiras’ Richard Rios, while Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat is another option having spent last season on loan at Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, United’s interest in Paris Saint-Germain star Manuel Ugarte has cooled due to a gap in the clubs’ valuations.
