Arsenal can splash £103m on three exciting deals after Mikel Merino breakthrough

Arsenal could ramp up their pursuit of three new signings over the coming weeks after making a breakthrough in their pursuit of Mikel Merino. The Gunners are said to have reached an agreement in principle with Real Sociedad, allowing Edu to switch his focus onto other targets.

It has been reported that Arsenal will pay around £30million in exchange for Merino’s signature with the deal set to be wrapped up in the coming days. Personal terms are not expected to be an issue, with the former Newcastle man eager to finalise his return to the Premier League.

The completion of that deal will allow Edu to target signings in other areas of the pitch, having been locked in negotiations with Sociedad over the last few weeks. He could start by firming up his interest in a move for Viktor Gyokeres, who is said to be among the names under consideration.

Gyokeres bagged 43 goals in all competitions for Sporting last season, proving himself as an elite striker following his move from Coventry City last summer. He is thought to have a release clause in the region of £86m but reports have suggested that Sporting would be willing to accept a lower bid.

The Portuguese heavyweights will listen to offers in the region of £50m, according to TEAMtalk, with Arsenal able to sign him for less than what they paid to land Kai Havertz. Such a deal would be worth every penny if Gyokeres can replicate his prolific form in the Premier League.

Arsenal have also been linked with a surprise move for Kingsley Coman, who has been tipped to leave Bayern Munich before the window slams shut. The Gunners are still on the lookout for a versatile attacking option to reinforce their squad, according to football.london.

It has been reported that Coman could be on the move for around £34m, which is a relatively modest fee for a proven winner of his calibre. He would be able to provide quality cover for Bukayo Saka while also challenging the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard for regular minutes.

Arsenal may also be inclined to target a move for Brighton winger Simon Adingra, who was on target for the Seagulls in their big win over Everton. The Gunners have already shown an interest in the 22-year-old, according to HITC, but it remains to be seen if a deal can be agreed.

Adingra is valued at £26m by Transfermarkt but it has been suggested that Brighton are determined to keep hold of him for the foreseeable future. Only time will tell how the rest of the window plays out for Arsenal, with less than two weeks remaining until the all-important deadline at the end of the month.
