Fleetwood Mac fans think the iconic group may return to the stage after spotting a hint.
The esteemed ensemble last toured in 2019 and despite saying no future tours were planned following the loss of keyboardist and songwriter Christine McVie, the band’s fans found a clue suggesting another round of performances could come soon.
Stevie Nicks, who performed solo across the UK earlier this year, previously quashed any prospect of a Fleetwood Mac reunion after McVie’s death, stating there was “no chance” of them regrouping.
However, the creation of a new official Instagram account for the band has ignited fan speculation about their potential comeback.
A TikTok post showcased screenshots of freshly-minted official Fleetwood Mac profiles on Instagram and TikTok, followed by none other than Nicks and fellow member Lindsey Buckingham.
Fans are now wishing for a reunion. One said: “Waitttt I thought Stevie said Fleetwood Mac wouldn’t get back together since Christine died?” Another suggested it could be time for another tour, adding: “Bands always say they won’t get back together and then do.”
And yet another wrote: “I guess she meant in a technical way. It will never be the same though.”
However, some have concerns about the possibility of a proper Fleetwood Mac reunion. One said: “Unless it’s a couple of reunion gigs in memory of Christine, I can’t see it happening. John is winding down, we don’t know what state Lindsey’s voice is in either. Not to mention him and Stevie can’t work together.”
Some are staying optimistic, with another replying: “No one knows the current state of Lindsey and Stevies relationship. Stevie always speaks of him highly if you look at her concert videos.”
Band members Buckingham and Nicks had been in a relationship before the recording of hit album Rumours but the relationship was put on ice soon after it was released in 1977. The band has since toured intermittently in the decades to follow, with the most recent string of shows culminating in 2019.
The ‘An Evening with Fleetwood Mac’ tour is likely the last time they take to the stage, though fans are hopeful they could get one more chance to see the band behind The Chain.
One person took to Twitter/X and wrote: “The Fleetwood Mac return rumours are definitely what I needed to hear this morning.” Another added: “Did someone say a Fleetwood Mac reunion?”
