Roy Keane gets into heated row at Ipswich vs Man Utd during Sky Sports ad break

Roy Keane was filmed getting into a heated altercation with a fan after Manchester United‘s draw with Ipswich Town while on a Sky Sports advert break. Keane was one of three pundits alongside host Kelly Cates on Sky’s Super Sunday broadcast.

And in footage filmed by the Daily Mail, Keane can be seen putting down his microphone and confronting a pitchside fan at Portman Road. He shared a heated conversation with the man before being ushered away by a member of the broadcaster’s production team.

The altercation came while the Sky Sports panel were off air after full-time. It is claimed by the Daily Mail that many Ipswich fans had hurled insults at Keane from the stands.

In a second clip, filmed from the stands, Keane can be seen seemingly telling the fan: “I’ll wait for you in the car park!” Fellow pundit Jamie Redknapp is behind Keane while trying to get the Irishman, 53, away from the spectator.

The legendary former Man United captain was the Ipswich boss for two years between 2009 and 2011 and endured an unsuccessful spell at the club.

He won 28 of 81 matches, also losing 28, before being sacked with the Tractor Boys 19th in the Championship.

This first top-flight meeting between United and Ipswich since 2002 ended 1-1 with Omari Hutchinson’s strike cancelling out Marcus Rashford’s second-minute opener.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Keane insisted that new manager Ruben Amorim has a “huge problem” to fix in terms of United’s attack. The Red Devils have won just four of their opening 12 Premier League matches.

But even more concerningly, United have only scored 13 goals in those 12 games. Their goal difference stands at zero. Last term, under Erik ten Hag, they scored 57 times but ended with a -1 goal difference.

Keane said: “He’s got big problems. The lack of threat in the second half and Ipswich looked like they’d go on and win. They’ve not won at home all season. Same problems for Man Utd but he’s only had a week with them.

“You have to give the man a chance but the threat going forward, it’s a huge problem for Man Utd. It’s not good enough.

“We saw the shape of the team but it is the same players and the same problems. We talk about leopards and spots. Lack of goals and lack of quality in the second half. Ipswich looked the better team.

“It’s his first game. A lot to take in and it has been a mental week for him [Amorim] but ultimately he will be disappointed.”

It is not the first time Keane has been involved by an angry incident with a fan. Earlier this year, Scott Law – an Arsenal fan – was banned from watching football for three years after being convicted of headbutting Keane at the Emirates.

The 43-year-old pleaded not guilty to a charge of common assault after Arsenal‘s 3-1 win over Man United. Keane told the trial at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court that he was left ‘in shock’ by the incident.

“I was absolutely not expecting it,” he said. “The only way I can describe it is that I was in shock. I didn’t expect it to happen, not when I was in my workplace.”
