Former LMFAO star Redfoo has made his professional tennis debut at the age of 49.
A long-time fan of the sport after playing as a junior before music took over, Redfoo — who plays under his real name Stefan Gordy — has made sporadic appearances in amateur events over the years.
But he reached a new high with a wildcard entry into an ITF M15 tournament, the first level in the pro ranks, in Egypt this week.
Redfoo was pitted against Norway’s Leyton Rivera, a 23-year-old who lost in qualifying but received a late reprieve to enter the main draw as a lucky loser.
“Going for it,” Redfoo wrote.
Redfoo managed to snare a game in the first set before Rivera claimed a 6-1 6-0 victory.
The ‘Party Rock Anthem’ and ‘Sexy and I Know It’ singer shared footage of a rally from the match afterwards and wished his opponent well for the rest of the tournament.
“I lost the match but this was my best point,” he said.
“Good match and good luck Leyton.”
Rivera wrote: “Thank you, it was a pleasure.”
Redfoo picked up tennis for the first time since his teenage years when LMFAO wound down in 2012, not long after they had hit the big time.
He quickly became a prominent spectator at top tennis events.
Redfoo and world No.1 Victoria Azarenka dated from 2012 and 2014 and he was on hand to watch the superstar win the Australian Open in 2013.
He was back in Melbourne in 2024, taking part in a tennis event alongside Wimbledon champion Pat Cash and AFL great Ben Cousins before attending the Australian Open.
Redfoo is not the only big-name star to move into tennis in his 40s.
Former Manchester United and Uruguay international footballer Diego Forlan officially retired from the world game in 2019 and began making appearances in ITF tennis tournaments in 2023.
Now 45, he played at the ATP level with a doubles appearances at the Uruguay Open last year.
