Arsenal are optimistic that Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli will return to action after the next international break, according to reports.
The duo could even make a comeback against Fulham on Tuesday, April 1 according to the Daily Mirror which would provide a significant boost to Arsenal‘s campaign following their recent injury woes.
This means that the Gunners will be without Saka and Martinelli for the upcoming six matches, but the hope is they will intensify their training during this period and be ready to return for the crucial stages of the season.
Martinelli, who suffered a hamstring injury in the Carabao Cup semi-final loss at Newcastle, has been making steady progress and is expected to bolster Arsenal‘s forward line upon his return.
Saka, who underwent surgery for a hamstring tear in December, is also progressing well in his recovery.
Initially, he was expected to resume training by the end of February and be match-fit by March, a timeline that now seems realistic.
Over the next few weeks, Saka will ramp up his rehabilitation, return to training, and eventually join his teammates on the pitch.
However, he will miss England’s back-to-back World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia on March 21 and 24 respectively, as well as Thomas Tuchel’s first games in charge.
However, it now appears likely that he will return to the pitch soon, which is a significant boost for Arsenal, especially as Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz have been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
This should ensure that Arsenal have their wingers available for the title run-in and potentially for a Champions League quarter-final.
