Katie Boulter mocks De Minaur as Aussie boyfriend pens sweet message to Brit

Katie Boulter sent a cheeky response to her fiance, Alex de Minaur, after he shared a heartfelt message on their anniversary. The tennis power couple have now been dating for five years, but they had different ways of marking the milestone.

De Minaur posted a smiley photo of himself and the British No. 1 to Instagram and wrote “5 years” with a love heart. But Boulter took it as an opportunity to mock one of her partner’s hidden habits.

“Been a loooong 5 years of snoring,” she wrote in the comments, adding a yawning emoji. Boulter’s response caught the attention of some of her WTA colleagues, who found it hilarious.

“HAHAHA,” world No. 33 Anna Kalinskaya replied, as Aussie star Priscilla Hon added: “dead.”

The couple celebrated their five-year anniversary in Miami after suffering early exits in Indian Wells. Boulter lost a tough match to No. 7 seed Elena Rybakina in the second round while De Minaur was dumped out in the round of 16.

Boulter and De Minaur took their relationship to the next level during the off-season when the Aussie officially popped the question. They announced their engagement a few days later in typical fashion, on Instagram.

The Brit posed for a smiley selfie with her new fiance, draping her arm around him to show off the giant engagement ring. “We’ve been keeping a small secret…” Boulter said in the caption.

A few weeks later, De Minaur reached the quarter-final at his home Grand Slam tournament for the first time and was asked whether his engagement contributed to his Australian Open success.

“I don’t believe in coincidences! I think when you’re happy off the court you play some good tennis on the court,” he smiled.

De Minaur pocketed £325k for his run at the Australian Open – plenty for the wedding budget. But the power couple’s hopes of adding to their fund were thwarted at the recent Eisenhower Cup – a mixed doubles event played ahead of Indian Wells.

Boulter and De Minaur teamed up for the exhibition tournament, which sees pairs face off in a series of first-to-10-point tiebreaks. But they lost their first-round match.

“There goes the wedding budget,” the Aussie wrote on social media after their loss.

De Minaur later told Sky Sports: “We will see if US Open mixed doubles is still on the cards. I don’t think she was too happy with me. I missed too many volleys, and I wasn’t the greatest partner. She always carries me! I need to improve.”
