Bengaluru FC received a timely fitness boost with both Suresh Singh Wangjam and Vinit Venkatesh remaining in the reckoning for the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 final against Mohun Bagan Super Giant on Saturday.
“He is recovering. Not only him, we have recovered all players except Nikhil Poojary, who is out of the playoffs. But the others are ready,” said Bengaluru head coach Gerard Zaragoza on Friday.
Later in the day, both Suresh — with a taped right hamstring — and Vinit — sporting a heavy strapping on his right knee — resumed light training.
Zaragoza will have a big call on whether to start Suresh at the home of the ISL Shield champion, Mohun Bagan.
Suresh, 24, who has played 25 matches this season, has been key to Bengaluru’s improvement that finished third in the league.
In the eliminator, he scored and assisted in the 5-0 win over Mumbai City FC. He had another excellent outing in the 2-0 first-leg semifinal win over FC Goa before he pulled his hamstring in the second leg, which BFC lost 1-2, but progressed 3-2 on aggregate.
Vinit, who is in his breakthrough campaign in senior football, was stretchered out in the game against Mumbai City.
