Big Nintendo Direct conference could be imminent as Switch 2 prepares to launch

It looks like a big new Nintendo Direct conference could take place in the coming weeks, according to a new leak.

With the Nintendo Switch 2 launching on June 5, one industry insider claims the company will hold a Direct presentation either in the week of launch, or the week after.

The claim was made by Nintendo leaker PH Brazil, and has since been posted on the Famiboards website.

June is typically a big month for game announcements, so the timing certainly makes sense.

In addition to the Summer Games Fest Live event on June 6, companies like Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo tend to hold online conferences packed with new game announcements.

With the Nintendo Switch 2 launching on June 5, the company could use a Direct conference to showcase some of the post-release games, and make one or two new announcements.

Indeed, the Nintendo Switch 2 release date was announced during a recent Direct conference, alongside a boatload of new games.

The new Nintendo console launches with games like Mario Kart World, Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, Fortnite, and Hogwarts Legacy.

Additional first and third-party games will be available in the weeks and months after launch, including Donkey Kong Bananza on July 17 and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond later in the year.

Nintendo will also release enhanced versions of existing Switch games, including upgraded editions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

The Switch 2 Enhanced games will feature improved visuals, smoother frame-rates and in some cases and new content.

Breath of the Wild, for example, comes with a companion app that provides information about each area and an improved map.
