After a couple of weeks without any new content, Fortnite fans are about to be treated to a bumper new update.
Fortnite update 34.20 has a March 25 release date on PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Android.
According to Fortnite developer Epic Games, the new update will be accompanied by a period of server downtime, which starts at 8am GMT for fans living in the UK. This means fans will be unable to access Fortnite Battle Royale or any other game mode until the servers are back online.
The news was announced by Epic Games on X, alongside a teaser for the new season of Fortnite OG.
“Brace for Impact!” reads an Epic Games tweet. “Downtime for v34.20 begins at 4 AM ET with matchmaking ending shortly beforehand.”
As pointed out in the Fortnite tweet, matchmaking will be disabled shortly before the 8am GMT downtime, so you may struggle to join a game in the run up to the server maintenance.
The tweet also teases the release of Fortnite OG Season 3, which is the headline new feature of the update.
As you can see from the OG Season 3 gameplay trailer below, the new Fortnite season will bring back some classic skins, albeit with a twist.
The old-school Fortnite skins will be available to unlock with the OG Season 3 Battle Pass, alongside other bonus items and cosmetics. You can take a closer look at the skins further down the page.
According to Epic Games, Season 3 also brings back the meteor, which will loom large over the map and result in some explosive skirmishes.
In terms of classic landmarks, fans will be pleased to see the return of Lucky Landing, which is a traditionally chaotic POI.
Needless to say, the new update will also contain a host of potential new pop culture crossovers.
Mortal Kombat brawler Scorpion is rumoured to be joining the game, alongside more characters from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise.
Daily Express will update this article with the latest leaks once the update goes live on March 25.
Finally, fans can expect a selection of gameplay tweaks and bug fixes. The early patch notes below contain a list of the confirmed fixes for the March 25 update.
Fortnite update 34.20 early bug fixes…
• Campfires take damage and are destroyed after being lit.
– If the player ignites the campfire, it will gradually lose HP and be destroyed after a few seconds.
• Starting a text chat DM opens the PC chat window.
– If the player opens the text chat through the sidebar menu and starts a direct message, they will see the PC chat UI in the corner instead of the standard, full-screen Mobile UI.
