Ever since the first GTA 6 trailer was released all the way back in December 2023, fans have been clamouring for more information about the game. After months and months without any new details, Grand Theft Auto fans are desperate to find out exactly when GTA 6 will launch, and when the second trailer will make its debut online.
The parent company of GTA 6 developer Rockstar Games appears to have shed light on why we’ve had to wait so long for more information, and why we may have to wait even longer for the GTA 6 release date to be announced and for Trailer 2 to drop.
In an interview with Bloomberg (from 30.25), Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said that the company plans to “provide marketing materials relatively close to the release window”, which is currently listed as autumn 2025.
“The anticipation for that title may be the greatest anticipation I’ve ever seen for an entertainment property, and I’ve been around the block a few times, and I’ve been in every entertainment business there is,” Zelnick said.
“And… we want to maintain the anticipation and the excitement. And we do have competitors who will describe their release schedule years in advance. We found that the better thing to do is to provide marketing materials relatively close to the release window in order to create that excitement on the one hand and balance the excitement with unmet anticipation.
“We don’t always get it exactly right, but that’s what we’re trying to do.”
With GTA 6 pencilled in for an autumn 2025 launch, the big question now is how close to the release window will Rockstar Games and Take Two leave it before revealing new information?
“Relatively close to the release window” could mean six months out, three months out, or even just a few weeks.
However, while we won’t know for sure until Rockstar Games makes an official announcement, at least we have some idea about the marketing strategy and we’ve had to wait so long for more on GTA 6.
What we do know for sure is that Grand Theft Auto 6 takes place in the state of Leonida, which is based on Florida.
Rockstar explains: “Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.”
The previously released trailer gives fans a look some of the map locations as seen from the skies above. This includes locations based on the Florida Keys, as well as Miami beach and more.
The trailer also hints at a potential game-changing new feature for Grand Theft Auto 6, which will up the scale to never-before-seen levels.
