‘Guns N’ Roses disappointed in 2023 – now I can’t wait for their stadium tour’

I have a bit of a complicated relationship with Guns N’ Roses. Like every guitar-obsessed teen, I grew up with their early albums on a constant repeat, and the love grew.

Their later albums (Chinese Democracy) left me a little… gutted, for lack of a better term; but the hope endured. The hope that, between all the line-up issues and ongoing feuds, there would still be a great performance waiting for me.

So then, I was utterly thrilled last year when I saw Guns N’ Roses at their BST Hyde Park headline performance. However, it soon became clear as they started playing, this was not Guns N’ Roses at their best.

BST Hyde Park is always a bit of a strange experience, as it’s more for the artist than it is for the fans.

As a result, Guns N’ Roses indulged in elongated guitar solos from Slash, awkward costume changes after _every single song_, and an odd mish-mash of hits. My colleague agreed, as well. He gave them a middling three-star in his almost-scathing review.

Axl even fell over at one point because of the disorganisation. Despite all of this, I feel that the band’s upcoming stadium tour in 2025 is exactly what they need to flourish.

Guns N’ Roses are going on an extensive tour around the world next year, with two enormous shows in the UK – one in Birmingham, another in London.

This tour will throw the band back into their roots: playing long sets for weeks at a time – just like back in their heydey. That’s before you even think about the production, lighting, and surprises they’ll bring along the way, as well.
