Harry Potter’s Jason Isaacs, who played Lucius Malfoy in the original film series, has teased that he knows some of the “incredible actors” being cast in the new HBO series.
The highly anticipated show is set to premiere in 2026, with casting announcements expected in the coming months.
Rumours are already swirling about potential big-name stars, including Oscar-winners Mark Rylance as Albus Dumbledore and Cillian Murphy as Lord Voldemort.
In a recent interview for the upcoming third season of The White Lotus, Isaacs revealed that some of the cast has already been confirmed.
“Oh, I know who they’re casting,” he shared. “They’re incredible actors.”
His co-star Patrick Schwarzenegger tried to pry more information from him, but Isaacs remained tight-lipped.
However, if his update is accurate, Harry Potter fans could be seeing the full cast list for season one sooner than expected.
“Some of them, yeah,” the actor confirmed. “And they’re incredible actors.”
He also praised the team behind the new series, including showrunner Mark Mylod, who previously worked on Game of Thrones and Succession. “I worked with him years ago on Entourage, but he ran, he did lots of Game of Thrones.
“[He’s] a phenomenally talented man, and they don’t need any advice from me.”
Isaacs, famously known for his role in the magical film saga, is apparently privy to insider insights.
Excitement has soared as he blesses the casting choices for the upcoming series, giving a nod of approval that fans are delighted about.
The Potter community on Reddit is abuzz, dissecting every morsel of information and hypothesising on cast revelations with one user saying: “Lots of the main adults likely cast then.
“As far as we know they’re still auditioning the trio. They’ll likely spread these announcements out over the months leading up to filming. Wouldn’t be surprised if the trio is revealed last.”
The latest rumours hint that Fleabag phenomenon Phoebe Waller-Bridge might step into the shoes of Aunt Petunia Dursley, fuelled by insider @DanielRPK.
Meanwhile, Isaacs will grace our screens again, this time joining the esteemed ensemble of The White Lotus in its third instalment, alongside stars like Michelle Monaghan and Parker Posey.
Harry Potter will premiere on HBO and Max in 2026.
