Last night, Scarlett Johansson’s Jurassic World: Rebirth had its world premiere in London before hitting cinemas on July 2.
Just across the city on the other side of the Thames is a tie-in attraction from Universal Studios, located at the brand-new NEON at Battersea Power Station visitor space.
Jurassic World: The Experience is an American theme park-quality walkthrough of the park made famous by the movies to incredible effect.
Defying our expectations, we arrived by boat at the island (a stationary visual effect at the start of the tour) before actors playing park rangers welcomed us through those hallowed titular gates.
Inside was a towering Brachiosaurus amid other giant plant-eating dinosaurs moving about with eye-widening realism, thanks to Creature Technology Co’s amazing animatronics.
Moving through Jurassic World, the keepers gave educational information on each beasty, with some holding lifelike puppets of smaller ones that kids are invited to gently stroke at this fantastic family attraction. Further in, we had a chance to visit the lab to see the baby dinos being born thanks to the DNA from fossilised mosquitoes, before moving on to brush for bones in the sand. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Jurassic Park adventure without something going wrong with the meat-eaters, as we came face-to-face with a velociraptor and a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Even younger children didn’t appear too frightened by the thrilling special effects before heading to the extensive gift shop at the end. Unmissable for fans and a real summer highlight for families, this immersive attraction is well worth a visit.
Jurassic World: The Experience is open now and tickets can be purchased here.
