Having bowed out as Wolverine in Logan after nine X-Men movies, it was a huge decision for Hugh Jackman to return as his Marvel superhero.
And yet the gamble paid off with Deadpool and Wolverine crossing $1 billion at the global box office; destined to now top Joker as the highest-grossing R-rated (15 in the UK) movie of all time.
Rumours abound that both Ryan Reynolds and Jackman’s characters will have roles in Avengers Doomsday and Avengers Secret Wars opposite Robert Downey Jr’s Doctor Doom.
After all, the latter is set to be a multiverse crossover of epic Avengers Endgame proportions.
And now the latest report is that Jackman isn’t hanging up his claws again anytime soon.
According to Marvel scooper MyTimeToShineHello, Jackman is set to continue on as Wolverine beyond 2027’s Avengers Secret Wars.
The rumour is that both he and Reynolds want to make more Deadpool and Wolverine movies together.
This shouldn’t be very surprising given how successful Deadpool and Wolverine has been, becoming the 11th MCU movie of the 34 so far to cross $1 billion globally.
The question is though, when will another actor get to play the X-Men character beyond a cameo?
