‘Masterpiece’ superhero movie dubbed ‘one of the best ever’ is now on Netflix

Netflix subscribers are in for a treat as what’s hailed as the best superhero movie of the past decade is now available for streaming.

Boasting an all-star ensemble, masterful world-building, and a dark reimagining of one of the most legendary figures in comic book history, this film was a box office sensation and has garnered a loyal fanbase clamouring for a follow-up.

While some aficionados might argue that 2008’s The Dark Knight remains the pinnacle of Batman’s film adventures, others contend that his most recent solo venture ranks a very close second, with some even asserting it surpasses its predecessor.

The Batman features former Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson donning the cape and cowl as Bruce Wayne, the enigmatic vigilante on a mission to unravel a string of heinous crimes in Gotham City and thwart the nefarious plans of the Riddler (played by Paul Dano).

Although it may not be your typical festive flick, this three-hour noir masterpiece serves as the ideal counterbalance to the seasonal merriment and promises to captivate adults long after the children have retired for the night, especially when you’re too stuffed to peel yourself off the sofa, reports the Mirror.

Directed by the visionary behind Cloverfield and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Matt Reeves, the film also stars the talents of Zoe Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell.

Den of Geek lauded the film in their review, proclaiming it “One of the Best Superhero Movies Ever Made” and noted that it “stands apart from previous versions of the character”.

They remarked: “After a superhero film this extraordinarily satisfying and this determined to have something new to say about Bruce Wayne-and our own world by extension-the anticipation for what comes next will be immense.”

Empire’s glowing critique stated: “Matt Reeves’ arrival in the Bat-verse is a gripping, beautifully shot, neo-noir take on an age-old character. Though not a totally radical refit of the Nolan/Snyder era, it establishes a Gotham City we would keenly want a return visit to.”

A Letterboxd enthusiast enthused: “There’s a lot of evidence here to suggest that this might very well be the best batman movie ever made (the only exception being the lego batman movie ofc).”

Another avid fan exclaimed: “Holy s*** this movie was f***ing amazing, Matt Reeves did a beautiful job in directing this masterpiece, every scene was stunning, fighting scenes were incredible.

“Robert Pattinson did an incredible job as Batman giving us one of the best portrayals of the character I’ve ever seen.”

Another thrilled viewer declared: “I’m not a religious person, but watching 3 hours of this magnificent and flawless MASTERPIECE must be the equivalent of going to heaven and meeting god.”

The film’s success has also led to the green-lighting of a spin-off series, The Penguin on HBO and Sky, with Colin Farrell returning to his celebrated role as one of Batman’s most iconic foes.

The Batman is available to stream on Netflix.
