Nintendo Direct coming this week as Switch 2 game looks set to get release date

Just days after the recent Indie Direct presentation, Nintendo has announced plans to hold a new Direct conference ahead of Gamescom 2025.

The next Nintendo Direct takes place on August 19 at 2pm BST UK time. Better yet, you can watch the entire thing live by clicking play on the YouTube embed below.

The August Direct presentation will focus exclusively on one game, as Nintendo sheds light on upcoming Switch 2 exclusive Kirby Air Riders.

A sequel to Nintendo Gamecube title Kirby Air Ride, Kirby Air Riders was announced as a Switch 2 exclusive during the April Direct conference.

While the game is scheduled to launch in 2025, fans were worried about a possible delay following a lack of gameplay footage.

Nintendo is likely to announce a release date during the imminent Direct, which will run for a whopping 45 minutes.

According to Nintendo, the Direct presentation will be hosted by director Masahiro Sakurai.

“Tune in on Tuesday, August 19 at 3pm CEST for a livestreamed Kirby Air Riders Direct with director Masahiro Sakurai providing an in-depth look at the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 game.”

“To tune in, check out the Nintendo Direct website or the Nintendo UK YouTube channel, where the broadcast will be livestreamed.”

Fans will also be hoping for news about Metroid Prime 4, which is another big Switch game without a release date.

Available for both the original Switch and Switch 2, players will explore Planet Viewros, where they will battle a rival Bounty Hunter named Sylux.

Samus will be able to draw on a new selection of psychic abilities when battling the new rival and enemies.

The Switch 2 version will feature various upgrades, including faster frame-rates, enhanced visuals and support for the console’s mouse controller.
