Liam Gallagher has shared his four favourite Oasis tracks, with one pick leaving fans astonished.
The iconic frontman is set to join forces with brother Noel Gallagher for a string of sold-out performances later this year.
The band’s first tour in over a decade and a half has seen them quickly sell out venues like Wembley Stadium, Manchester’s Heaton Park, and Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium.
It remains to be seen whether Liam‘s preferred songs will make it onto the setlist for their much-anticipated tour, but followers are betting that his last song choice is almost guaranteed to be performed.
Devotees of the group have been vocal in their approval of Gallagher’s selection, particularly one track they’re eager to experience live.
Gallagher listed: “Live Forever, Supersonic, Cast No Shadow, Wonderwall.”
Despite being prompted for five top tunes, the 52-year-old found himself at a loss after ‘Cast No Shadow’, needing the interviewer to propose another option.
Answering questions while strolling through London’s Hampstead Heath, Gallagher’s chosen favourites have sparked excitement among fans.
One YouTube comment stated: “Good choice. Live Forever is my favourite Oasis song.” Another user added: “Wonderwall? He is not a true fan.” A third wrote: “He’s clearly not an Oasis fan. No Oasis fan would choose Wonderwall in their top five.”
Despite ‘Wonderwall’ becoming one of the band’s most renowned hits, it seems the Gallagher brothers weren’t as enamoured with the track as the British public was upon its release.
One fan commented: “Both Liam and Noel aren’t fans of the song. They like it but don’t see it as a big deal as everyone in the world does.” Liam Gallagher articulated his initial thoughts on Wonderwall, remarking: “I didn’t like it at first, I thought it was a little funky.”
Bonehead, another Oasis member, shared a similar lack of enthusiasm for the track.
He expressed his disbelief: “I have no idea. It beggars belief. Wonderwall is one of my least favourite songs because it’s not finished. If I could somehow twist time and go back there, I’d probably pick a different song for our calling card. Probably Some Might Say.”
Noel Gallagher has spoken about his preferred tracks from the band, differing from his brother Liam’s tastes. The other Oasis figurehead and leader of High Flying Birds counted a less prominent B-side among his top picks.
His favoured tunes include The Masterplan, Live Forever, Supersonic, and Don’t Look Back in Anger. Noel elucidated his affection for The Masterplan during an interview.
He detailed: “It’s one of my favourite of my songs because there are certain songs for me that are great, but then there’s a chosen few where you really f**king nail it. The words, the melody, the structure, everything, all the playing’s brilliant. And that’s one of them.”
