PS Plus August 2024 free PS4 and PS5 games – Hi-Fi Rush, Viewfinder, Resi 8

If you’ve been twiddling your thumbs waiting for the next wave of PS Plus Essentials to be revealed, then the good news is that you won’t have to wait much longer. Sony will unveil the August 2024 free PS4 and PS5 games on the afternoon of July 31. You’ll have to wait another week to actually download and play the games, which will be available from August 6 until September 3. While there’s a good chance the games will leak ahead of schedule, fans have been attempting to successfully guess the August PlayStation Plus line-up in the monthly predictions thread over on Reddit.

As you can see from the Reddit post, multiple fans believe Resident Evil Village will join the PlayStation Plus games line-up in August.

The eighth mainline entry in the Resident Evil series launched all the way back in 2021, so it definitely feels like enough time has passed for a PS Plus release.

A bit of a throwback to Resident Evil 4, the game takes place in a creepy European village beset by various monsters. It once again utilises a first-person perspective, although players can switch to third-person for a more traditional Resident Evil experience.

As an added bonus, it’s even playable using the PSVR 2 headset, which is currently reduced by a whopping £180 at Argos.

Other games featured in the predictions thread include the Bethesda published Hi-Fi Rush, which is a rhythm action game developed by the now defunct Tango Gameworks.

First-person puzzle game Viewfinder also gets a mention. The game tasks players with manipulating the environment using a special camera that can create new routes and locations.

Viewfinder has an excellent 84% score on Metacritic, so fingers crossed it comes to PS Plus soon.

One game that feels PS Plus bound is Suicide Squad, which despite launching earlier this year, could really use a shot in the arm.

With a seasonal approach to gameplay, the live service superhero game would benefit from an increased playerbase, even if that means giving away the base game for free.

Then there are the usual suspects, such as Sonic Frontiers, Little Nightmares 2, Hades, High on Life, Deathloop, Tiny Tina’s Wonderland, Dead Space and Like a Dragon Ishin.

Other fans believe Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 will make an appearance, alongside the likes of Dying Light 2, Stray, Dead Island 2, Call of Duty Vanguard and Forspoken.

The more optimistic fans have even suggested the likes of God of War Ragnarok and Hogwarts Legacy, although this would come as a bit of a shock.

As a reminder, the current batch of PS Plus Essentials include NHL 24, Borderlands 3 and Among Us.
