PS Plus June 2024 free PS4 and PS5 games – Terminator, EA Sports UFC 5 and Stray

As a PS Plus subscriber myself, I always look forward to the day when Sony officially unveils the PlayStation Plus Essentials line-up for the following month. My fellow subscribers will be pleased to hear that this particular day is almost upon us, as Sony gets ready to announce the free PS4 and PS5 games for June 2024. Barring any leaks or last minute State of Play events, the next wave of PlayStation Plus Essentials will be officially announced at 4.30pm BST UK time on the afternoon of May 29. Typically consisting of three PlayStation games (and the odd expansion/VR game), the PS Plus line-up will be available to download and play on the morning of June 4. With anticipation ramping up ahead of the reveal, fans have been attempting to predict the line-up before Sony makes it official.

Indeed, in the regular predictions thread over on Reddit, subscribers have been attempting to figure out which games will join the service in June.

One game with multiple predictions is Stray, the cyberpunk adventure game where you control a stray cat.

Released back in July 2022, the highly-rated title sees players attempt to escape a cyberpunk city populated by killer robots and deadly machines.

The unique adventure game features a combination of stealth, platforming and puzzle solving, tasking players with interacting with the environment in order to create new paths.

While they don’t feature as many times in the predictions thread, other games that could realistically come to PS Plus in June include EA Sports UFC 5 and Terminator Resistance.

EA Sports games usually make an appearance on PlayStation Plus at some point, so an appearance for UFC 5 feels like a matter of time. Having said that, EA Sports FC 24 headlined the May line-up, so maybe it’s too soon for UFC 5.

Maybe it’s just wishful thinking because I haven’t got it, but Terminator Resistance feels like the sort of “double-A” game that would fit in well on PlayStation Plus.

The first-person action game takes place during the Future War between man and machine, as players attempt to take down Skynet by any means necessary.

Terminator Resistance is, however, currently on sale until June 5, which makes me think it may not join PlayStation Plus just yet.

Games with lots of picks include Hades, which makes sense given the sequel is currently in early access on PC. A PS Plus release would get fans hyped for the sequel when it does finally make an appearance on PS5.

Some fans think it may finally be time for regular picks like Sonic Frontiers and Forspoken to appear as PS Plus Essentials, alongside other popular choices such as Metro Exodus, Like A Dragon Ishin!, Jedi Survivor, Little Nightmares 2, Resident Evil Village, Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga, Nier Automata and The Pathless.

There are also multiple picks for the likes of Persona 5 Royal, Dead Island 2, Lords of the Fallen, Dead Island, Elden Ring, Robocop and Remnant 2, although I think these are all unlikely.

Other picks include Captain Tsubasa, Soul Hackers 2, Batman Arkham Collection, Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, A Way Out, Psychonauts 2, Cult of the Lamb, Neon White, The Witcher 3, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Bloodstained 2, Deathloop, Signalis, Frostpunk, Wrestlequest, Dicey Dungeons, Pacific Drive, Dead Space Remake and Train Sim World 2.

The lengthy list also includes predictions for Wild Hearts, High on Life, Hot Wheels 2, F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch, WRC Generations, Gris, Bramble: The Mountain King and Chants of Senaar (which just joined Xbox Game Pass).

In terms of first-party games, only Gran Turismo 7, God of War Ragnarok and The Last of Us get a mention. First-party releases are always a possibility, so it wouldn’t surprise me if we get at least one of these in the near future.

One high-profile game that seems unlikelym but would also make perfect sense, is Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. With the game proving a massive flop so far, a PS Plus release would definitely give it a boost, and would drive interest ahead of the mid-season update and next episode. I don’t think it will happen just yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it joins PS Plus sooner rather than later.
