After some disappointing offerings, particularly within the Extra and Premium tiers, Sony is back with a strong PlayStation Plus line-up for the month of June.
Coinciding with Sony’s bumper Days of Play event, the next batch of PS Plus Essentials has a June 3 release date on PS4 and PS5. Indeed, if you haven’t already redeemed the PS Plus games for May 2025, then consider this your final warning to add Ark: Survival Ascended, Balatro and Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun to your library for free.
The June PS Plus line-up is headlined by flashy sports simulation NBA 2K25, which has been top of the predictions thread for the past couple of months.
While NBA 2K25 is the highest-profile new release joining PS Plus in June, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is my personal favourite of the bunch.
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk pays homage to fan-favourite SEGA Dreamcast game Jet Set Radio, featuring a similar visual style and gameplay elements.
Sony explains more: “Start your own cypher and dance, paint graffiti, collect beats, combo your tricks and face off with the cops to stake your claim to the sprawling metropolis of New Amsterdam.
“In this action-adventure platformer, Red is a graffiti writer who lost his head and instead has a cyberhead. In search of his roots he joins the Bomb Rush Crew, Tryce and Bel, who are aiming to go All City. Together they slowly discover who it was that cut off his head and how deep Red’s human side is linked to the graffiti world.”
NBA 2K25 and Bomb Rush Cyberfunk will be joined by star-studded survival horror game Alone in the Dark.
A reimagining of the 1990s original, Alone in the Dark sees players explore the spooky Derceto Manor in 1920s America. It features performances by Stranger Things actor David Harbour and Killing Eve star Jodie Comer.
As an added bonus to celebrate the ongoing Days of Play event, Sony has given fans a bonus download for the month of June.
Available now, PS Plus subscribers can redeem Destiny 2 The Final Shape as part of their membership.
The Destiny 2 expansion is described as a “nightmarish calcification of reality into the Witness’s twisted design”.
The Final Shape DLC includes the new story campaign, a new Prismatic subclass, three new Supers, a new destination to explore plus a variety of weapons and items to discover.
Needless to say, you’ll need to own a copy of the Destiny 2 base game in order to enjoy The Final Shape.
