Next summer sees the release of Tom Holland’s fourth MCU solo movie as Peter Parker.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is expected to be a more grounded street-level Marvel adventure following the multiverse-clashing antics of Spider-Man: No Way Home, with variant Webslingers Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
Rumours abound of villains who could appear, from Kingpin to Venom and even versions of the Hulk.
Whatever the case, it has now been announced that an MCU legend is making his Marvel film debut in the sequel directed by Shang-Chi’s Destin Daniel Cretton.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jon Bernthal will co-star in Spider-Man: Brand New Day as Frank Castle aka The Punisher. The vigilante has previously appeared in Netflix Marvel shows Daredevil, The Punisher and the MCU’s Daredevil: Born Again. Other cast members and plot remain a mystery, other than Zendaya and Jacob Batalon reprising their roles as MJ and Ned, who (along with the rest of the world) forgot Peter Parker in Doctor Strange’s multiverse-saving spell at the end of No Way Home.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits cinemas on July 31, 2026.
