The ’10/10′ period drama with a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score now on Netflix

This incredible series is one that has gained an impressive rating on Rotten Tomatoes and you can watch it on Netflix. The Law According to Lidia Poët is set in late 19th-century Turin. In the series, Lidia Poët fights against everything and everyone to be enrolled in the official register of lawyers.

Nothing could stop her dream of becoming the first female lawyer in Italy. Lidia Poët, Italy‘s first modern female lawyer, fought against a male-dominated system in the 19th century and the series is based on her life.

The Netflix series is a fictionalised depiction of Lidia Poët’s life, but it sheds light on the struggles she faced in her fight for justice.

Her work contributed to the women’s movement in Italy and helped attract attention to gender discrimination in professions.

One person who watched the drama on IMDB said: “Everything looked right: I rarely watch period dramas but this is different, the storyline, the writing, the acting, especially the set and costumes, I found I was looking at the arrangement of candles and lamps and the shadows, which is so often spoilt by over lighting.

“The small details such as broaches and earrings, the overall cinematography and whoever did the set design 10 out of 10. It is flirtatious in a very Italian way, comedic at times, but just so enjoyable.

“Does it honestly reflect the real Lidia Poet: I doubt it, but as a modern take on the age-old problem of gender inequality it hammers the point without overstepping.”

Another person who watched the series said: “The show may be inspired by a true story but don’t go looking for a factual period piece.

“Instead, it’s an enjoyable show about a woman who is intelligent, knows what she wants, and refuses to be put in a box by anyone.

“Along with her strong moments of proving herself on the show it’s also endearing to watch her navigate in a man’s world that constantly tries to control her and often fails.

“I like the lead actress – she brings the right amount of spunk and softness to her role. This is a light show with interesting cases but nothing too intense. Overall it’s a fun watch and definitely worth another season.”

If you’re looking for something to watch, this show could be the ideal short series for you.
