The James Bond movies may be the longest-running British film series with 25 outings since 1962.
Nevertheless, the Carry On series has the largest number of movies of any British film franchise at a whopping 31.
Series regulars from Kenneth Williams, Joan Sims and Charles Hawtrey to Sid James, Hattie Jacques, Jim Dale and Barbara Windsor have had fans laughing since 1958’s Carry On Sergeant, all the way through to 1992’s Carry On Columbus.
But which are the very best? Film fan database IMBb has ranked the Top 10 Carry On films and Carry On Camping didn’t even make the Top 3.
7. Carry On Don’t Lose Your Head (1967)
Set during the French Revolution, this parody of The Scarlet Pimpernel was originally not conceived as a Carry On movie and as a result debuted as Don’t Lose Your Head. Yet due to the popularity of the series, new producers the Rank Organisation were persuaded to add the prefix onto the film’s title and the next, Follow That Camel, when they were re-released.
