Top 10 horror film adaptations that are better than the book

With Halloween just around the corner, there’s no better time to watch some classic horror films

Many iconic horror books have been turned into films over the decades, and Express.co.uk has looked into the best ones.

These are the top 10 horror films based on books from famous novelists – but one of Stephen King’s top works didn’t quite make the cut.

Despite being a popular choice by many horror film fans, “It” has just missed out on a place in the top 10.

9. Dracula (1931)

Bram Stoker’s Dracula has inspired many screen adaptations of the vampire story but this is one of the best. The novel itself is one of the most famous books ever written in the horror genre, and it has had a significant influence on films.

Bela Lugosi’s performance is truly iconic, and cements the film as a classic all on its own. The design of the film perfectly encapsulates the gothic atmosphere in the book, and it firmly holds a spot in the top 10.
