Celine Dion opens up about her recent health struggles in a new and candid documentary. Released on Tuesday (June 25), I Am: Celine Dion gives fans a raw and honest behind-the-scenes look at the iconic superstar’s struggle with a life-altering illness.

The inspirational film serves as a love letter to her fans and highlights the music that has guided Dion’s life while also showcasing the resilience of the human spirit. In December 2022, the All By Myself singer, 56, revealed that she had been diagnosed with a ‘very rare neurological disorder’ and subsequently cancelled her world tour.

“It’s not hard to do a show, it’s hard to cancel a show,” Dion says in the film’s trailer. “I’m working hard every day but I have to admit it’s been a struggle. I miss it so much.”

Dion suffers from Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), an autoimmune disease that can cause muscle stiffness and painful spasms. Now the Canadian singer is opening up in the film directed by Oscar-nominee Irene Taylor, whose credits include HBO doc Trees, and Other Entanglements.

Fans will follow her journey as she attempts to retrain her voice to eventually get back to performing. Dion is best-known as the ‘Queen of Power Ballads’ and is revered the world over for her recognisable vocals on hits like The Power of Love and Titanic theme My Heart Will Go On.

I Am: Celine Dion is available to stream with an Amazon Prime subscription and is free for those who sign up to an Amazon Prime 30-day trial.
