One of this year’s biggest new game releases is getting its own dedicated State of Play event. Sony has announced plans to showcase the PS5 version of Borderlands 4 as part of a PlayStation State of Play event on April 30.
The upcoming State of Play event will kick off at 10pm BST UK time. You can watch the action unfold live by clicking play on the YouTube embed below.
The Borderlands 4 State of Play event will run for around 20 minutes and will be presented by Gearbox Software creative director Graeme Timmins and senior producer Anthony Nicholson.
The broadcast will include extended gameplay footage, showcasing some of the new skills, weapons and abilities available as part of the new game.
“In this upcoming State of Play, strap in with me and Anthony Nicholson, Senior Project Producer, for over 20 minutes of developer-guided gameplay, including missions, killer weapons, exciting Action Skills, new and returning characters, and more,” 2K explains.
Borderlands 4 takes place on an all-new planet that’s been taken over by a ruthless dictator.
Needless to say, players will be able to unlock a staggering number of weapon combinations, all of which are complemented by new Action Skills.
According to developer Gearbox, it features new movement mechanics like double jumping, gliding, dodging and fixed-point grappling.
The game was originally supposed to launch on September 23, but was recently given a September 12 release date.
Developer Gearbox took the unusual step to move the release date forward after successful playtesting.
Gearbox explains more: “It has been incredible seeing the response as we move closer to the release. Our team has thrown themselves headfirst into making this the greatest Borderlands yet – both for new and returning Vault Hunters.
“After careful consideration – along with a lot of meetings, playtesting, and incredible development work – we have made the monumental decision to move up the date of Borderlands 4 to September 12.
“You’ll be able to crash Kairos two weeks sooner. We’re beyond excited to share the new world with all of you ahead of schedule.”
