Punjab Kings is enjoying one of its better starts in IPL under its prized catch Shreyas Iyer. Halfway through the tournament, Punjab Kings has climbed to the second spot with 10 points and will look to cement the position when it takes on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Stadium here on Sunday.
Fresh from a five-wicket win in the rain-truncated match against RCB in Bengaluru, PBKS will look to keep up the winning momentum.
Yuzvendra Chahal is making the ball talk after an indifferent start to the season. Chahal’s wickets in the middle overs have been the key factor in PBKS’ win in the last two matches.
The RCB bowlers will be wary of Kings’ batting firepower with almost all the batters, with the exception of Glenn Maxwell, making a significant contribution.
PBKS has started well at home, winning two out of the three matches. However, it will be up against RCB which has been formidable on the road this season. RCB, which has won four consecutive matches away from home, will be looking for revenge.
On a tacky pitch in Bengaluru, the RCB batters came a cropper but they will be more at home at Mullanpur where the track has traditionally favoured the batters barring the game in which PBKS defended 111 against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Apart from finding consistency with the bat, RCB will also want leg-spinner Suyash Sharma to step up after a rather average performance on Friday.
