Pitch invader targets under-fire Kohli at MCG

A pitch invader has charged onto the MCG, wrapped his arms around Virat Kohli and danced with him in a bizarre moment on the second day of the Boxing Day Test.

The young fan, wearing a blue shirt with the word ‘free’ and a Ukrainian flag, entered the playing surface from the northern end of the ground — around fine leg — before running towards the Indian slips cordon.

He ran past wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant and then towards captain Rohit Sharma, who had to dodge him, before meeting Kohli.

The invader wrapped his arms around Kohli, who appeared unfazed and even gave him a brief hug back.

The youngster then attempted the ‘floss’ dance, which briefly amused Kohli, before stadium security and an Indian team staff member came out to pull him off the ground.

Kohli was at the centre of a massive controversy on day one when he shoulder charged Australian teenager Sam Konstas.
