Shaun Williams, the former Bangladesh head coach, has returned to Maharashtra Cricket Association as the veteran Australian on Wednesday was announced as the Director of Cricket.
While announcing Williams’ appointment, MCA president Rohit Pawar stressed that besides helping out Maharashtra’s senior teams, Williams will also design and implement strategic training methods with an aim to professionalise MCA’s coaching programmes.
After being in charge of Bangladesh men’s team for a year, including the inaugural World Twenty20 in 2007, Williams joined Maharashtra as the head coach in 2008. During his four-year association, Maharashtra won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2010, its last senior men’s trophy.
