Aston Villa Champions League squad confirmed as Unai Emery omits £32m man

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has left French international Boubacar Kamara out of his first Champions League squad. Villa start their campaign to Young Boys in September 17, with Emery submitting 42 names to UEFA overall.

But Kamara, who has not played for the club since suffering an ACL injury against Manchester United in February, was not among those selected.

Club chiefs had initially been hopeful the 24-year-old would be fit to return in September, but his omission suggests that Emery doesn’t envisage the player being fit and available anytime soon.

According to reports, Kamara is not expected back in full training until early October. Before his injury, he was deemed to have played a critical role in his side’s push for the top four last season, and according to Transfermarkt, is now rated at £32million.
