Bryan Mbeumo to Man Utd twist caused by manager’s fresh transfer stance

This leaves United with an unobstructed path to the Brentford star, who is keen on the move, but agreeing on a fee has proven difficult. The MEN also reported that Andrews’ appointment has further muddied the waters, with the Irishman keen to retain his top players.

Mbeumo netted 20 times last season and has become the club’s main attacking force after Ivan Toney‘s departure. The Red Devils had hoped to secure Mbeumo’s services in time for the start of their pre-season, having initiated talks for the 25-year-old weeks ago.

That hasn’t materialised yet, but if they can strike a deal, he could still join them on their tour of the United States. Brentford’s director of football, Phil Giles, has made it clear that the club will only engage in transfers that benefit them, hinting that Mbeumo could remain in west London. The ball is now in United’s court to meet Brentford’s valuation.

Giles commented on the situation: “We’ve made our point clear. If Bryan earned a massive move now and it was right for us financially, we’d be open to it. But if he ended up here with us next season, I wouldn’t be massively surprised. We’d be delighted. And it would save me a massive headache, frankly.”

Mbeumo is poised for a significant salary boost should a transfer to Manchester United materialise. Meanwhile, Brentford have set their sights on Ipswich attacking midfielder Omari Hutchinson as a potential replacement for Mbeumo in the event of his departure this summer.
