The Frenchman was taken off the field in the 35th minute after he looked to sustain an injury. Rodrygo, who had missed Madrid’s La Liga trip to Girona, was brought on.
While the extent of the niggle is unknown, Carlo Ancelotti would hope this incident doesn’t add to his side’s injury woes. Ahead of the game, left-back Ferland Mendy was ruled out of the UCL clash due to a thigh injury.
Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior returned to the starting line-up after a hamstring injury kept the forward out of action for since late November. Other players who continue to be out for the side are Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, Eduardo Camavinga, and David Alaba
Madrid, which was languishing in 24th on the points table, needs to register a win against an on-song Atalanta.
Earlier in the game, Mbappe scored his 50th UEFA Champions League goal to get Los Blancos ahead in the match, before Charles De Ketelaere equalised from the penalty spot right at the stroke of half-time.
