Chelsea are set to bank millions of pounds thanks to a Todd Boehly masterstroke after an exciting transfer was agreed. The west Londoners have been among the Premier League‘s busiest clubs in the summer market, having made a total of eight new signings. They have also waved goodbye to several players, raising money that can be reinvested into further additions.
Noni Madueke, Joao Pedro, Djordje Petrovic and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall are just some of the players to have left Stamford Bridge over the last few weeks. Chelsea have raised just shy of £200million through summer sales, giving them plenty of money to play with when it comes to recruitment. Now, the Blues have added even more funds to their transfer kitty without lifting a finger.
They are set to receive millions of pounds from Omari Hutchinson’s proposed move to Nottingham Forest, according to The Athletic. Chelsea sold the 21-year-old to Ipswich Town last summer, with the Tractor Boys paying a club-record fee of £22.5m.
Hutchinson is now thought to be on the verge of joining Forest, who are finalising the details of a £37.5m swoop. The former Blues winger has been angling for a return to the Premier League, having missed Ipswich’s first two games of the new season.
A sell-on clause of 25 per cent was included in the deal, meaning Chelsea will bank a quarter of the profit made by Ipswich. As a result, they will receive around £3.75m when Hutchinson’s move to the City Ground is officially confirmed.
Garnacho is widely expected to leave Old Trafford after falling out of favour with Ruben Amorim. According to Fabrizio Romano, he has threatened to refuse to play for United unless they agree to facilitate a smooth exit.
Chelsea are also on the lookout for a new centre-back to replace Levi Colwill, who could miss the whole season after undergoing surgery on a serious knee injury.
Maresca recently confirmed that he was eager to land another central defender, saying: “It is a priority for me. Levi is a fantastic player. What we achieved last season is because of him.
“He played a lot of games with me, I love him. We are going to miss him. We are also trying to find different solutions.”
