Cristiano Ronaldo was grabbed by a pitch invader before Portugal’s Nations League semi-final showdown with Germany on Wednesday evening. The 40-year-old was warming up on the pitch at the Allianz Arena when the supporter made contact with him.
Ronaldo was named in the starting line-up for the crucial Nations League match as he was handed his 220th cap for Portugal. He started in a front three containing Pedro Neto and Trincao, with Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes and Manchester City ace Bernardo Silva starting in midfield alongside former Wolves man Ruben Neves.
Ronaldo would have been mentally preparing himself for the match as he went through his warm-up in Munich, with Portugal eyeing up a showdown with either France or Spain in the final.
But the blockbuster had his pre-match routine disrupted as a male fan wearing dark grey jeans and a black hoodie approached him.
The pitch invader managed to put his hands around Ronaldo as stewards rushed to the scene. And the man was eventually led away as the former Manchester United striker attempted to calm the situation.
