England handed major boost as Messi hits back at Mbappe’s France claim

Lionel Messi has hit back at Kylian Mbappe after the Frenchman claimed the Euros are harder to win than the World Cup.

Messi’s Argentina defeated France in the 2022 World Cup final.

“Well, everybody prioritises their tournament,” the Barcelona icon told ESPN Argentina ahead of the Copa America.

“Obviously, the Euros is very important and has the best teams, but he’s leaving out three-time champion Argentina, five-time champion Brazil, two-time champion Uruguay. There are a lot of world champions left off to say that it’s the most difficult tournament.

“The best teams play in the World Cup, which generally includes all the world champions. There’s a reason everybody wants to be champions.”

Mbappe had said earlier this week: “The Euros are complicated. For me, more complicated than a World Cup.”
