Barcelona forward Ferran Torres is set to miss their push for the title after undergoing surgery for appendicitis, the Spanish league leaders said on Wednesday.
“The first team player, Ferran Torres, has undergone successful surgery on 14 May for appendicitis. The operation was carried out by Doctors Coroleu and Borras at the Hospital de Barcelona under the supervision of the Club’s Medical staff,” read a club statement.
The club did not provide a timeline for his return, but local media reported that he will miss their last three games of the campaign.
The 25-year-old provided three assists in Barcelona’s crucial 4-3 win over second-placed Real Madrid on Sunday.
Barcelona will be champion if it beats Espanyol on Thursday.
