From Rashford to Kolo Muani: players who could be on the move in January

The start of the new year brings the start of the January transfer window, and clubs will be looking at a host of options to strengthen and help them achieve their targets for the season. Here are some players who could be sorting out their futures come January:

Marcus Rashford (Manchester United)

At the start of the season, it was inconceivable that Marcus Rashford could be playing for any club other than Manchester United.

However, the English attacker has not been a part of new manager Ruben Amorim’s plans, and recently gave an interview saying that he was looking for a new challenge. With this in mind, Rashford could potentially be on the move. PSG and Saudi Arabia currently seem like likely options for him.

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool is up in the air, with his contract as a Red expiring at the end of the season. While it seems fairly unlikely that he will leave in January given Liverpool has a real chance to win the trophies this season, January’s arrival means that he is now free to talk to other clubs about a free transfer come the end of the season.

After Liverpool’s 5-0 win over West Ham on December 29, Salah said that he was “far away” from signing a new deal, making his situation one worth keeping an eye out for.

Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray/Napoli)

The perennial search for strikers will hit Europe again come January, and Victor Osimhen is likely to be on the wishlist of most clubs in Europe again.

His move to Turkey at the start of the season has not slowed down his goalscoring exploits, and with clubs like Manchester United and Arsenal searching for a focal point to provide a regular source of goals, he is likely to be in high demand again.

Christopher Nkunku (Chelsea)

Chelsea’s attack has been potent this season, with the Blues showing the ability to find the net at will. However, Christopher Nkunku has not been able to force his way into the Chelsea first team.

He has been in strong form in the UEFA Europa Conference League, scoring five goals in six games, but his lack of Premier League minutes could easily see him look for a different home away from West London this January.

Martin Zubimendi (Real Sociedad)

Over the course of the summer, Liverpool was strongly linked with Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi to slot into its side.

The hype around him only increased when he effortlessly stepped into Rodri’s place in the final of the European Championships to send Spain to the title.

Though a move did not materialise in the summer, he has now been linked with moves to Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Randal Kolo Muani (Paris Saint-Germain)

Randal Kolo Muani’s move to Paris Saint-Germain from Eintracht Frankfurt has not worked out as well as either party would have hoped for, and it may be time for the France international to move away from the Parc de Princes.

However, with multiple clubs across Europe like Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal looking for strikers, there will be plenty of potential suitors for his signature this January.
