Kylian Mbappe’s hopes of winning the UEFA Champions League were dashed on Wednesday when Real Madrid lost 2-1 to Arsenal and was eliminated 5-1 on aggregate after a 3-0 first-leg loss in London last week.
To make things worse, the Frenchman had to be replaced in the 75th minute of the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu, after twisting his right ankle, and most of the crowd jeered the forward when his substitution was announced.
He was able to walk off the field by himself, but was limping a bit.
The 26-year-old joined the European giant in the summer with hopes of turning his fortune around in the competition, after coming close and missing out on the trophy with Paris Saint-Germain.

Real will be alarmed as the injury comes 10 days before the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona in Sevilla.
The club did not immediately release details on the extent of the injury.
Mbappe is set to miss Real’s next league game against Athletic Club after receiving a one-match ban for the red card he was shown during the 1-0 win against Deportivo Alaves.
Barcelona and Real Madrid faced eachother earlier in the season in the Spanish Super Cup final, where the former secured a massive 5-2 win.
Real is currently second in La Liga and trails Barca by four points with just seven games left.
