ISL 2024-25: Jamshedpur FC aims to get back to winning ways against struggling Mohammedan SC

Jamshedpur FC will be hoping to pick up crucial points to sustain its play-off hopes when it meets the bottom-placed Mohammedan Sporting SC in an Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 fixture at the Kishore Bharati Stadium in Kolkata on Thursday.

Jamshedpur, which is currently placed third in the current standings with 34 points from 20 matches, will be looking to get back to winning ways after suffering two consecutive losses. The Red Miners have fallen out of the race for the League Shield having lost thrice in their previous five encounters.

The former League Shield champion will now have to aim for a better showing to keep its chances alive for the the ISL Cup play-offs. At the moment, only five points separate third from seventh in the league table, with only the top six teams will have the chance to vie for the cup.

In the reverse fixture, JFC defeated MSC by a convincing 3-1 margin and head coach Khalid Jamil will be hoping that the team regains its lost momentum. However, its recent form has been a cause for concern, having suffered two consecutive losses without scoring a single goal. Head coach Khalid Jamil will be urging his team to rediscover its scoring touch.

Meanwhile, the home team is in all sorts of bother. Its head coach, Andrey Chernyshov, resigned over payment issues, and the team sits at the bottom of the league table with only two wins and five draws in 20 matches. Having suffered a staggering 13 losses, the Kolkata side desperately needs a motivation to make a match out of it, particularly after a demoralising 3-1 defeat to their city rivals, East Bengal, in its previous game.
