ISL 2024-25: League leader Mohun Bagan SG hosts challenger Bengaluru FC at home

Mohun Bagan Super Giant will be looking to consolidate its lead when it hosts challenger Bengaluru FC in an Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 fixture at the Salt Lake Stadium here on Monday.

Having won each of its last seven home games, the reigning League Shield winner MBSG is sitting on top of the current standings with 37 points from 17 matches. With 11 wins, four draws and just two losses to its name, the Mariners will be eager to regain the winning form having played successive draws in its previous two ‘away’ outings against Jamshedpur FC (1-1) and Chennaiyin FC (0-0).

The visitor, Bengaluru FC, which began the tournament strongly, are now experiencing a dip in form. It has been winless in its last four outings and has dropped to the third position with 28 points from 17 encounters.

This means the Blues are nine points behind the Kolkata club making the upcoming match an important contest for both the opponents.

Bengaluru outplayed Mohun Bagan SG in the first league clash (3-0) at its home turf in Sri Kanteerava Stadium (in the third round on 28 September 2024) and will be looking at the chance to complete their first league double.

On the head-to-head count, the two teams have faced each other 10 times in the ISL with Mohun Bagan winning six matches while Bengaluru FC have won only twice. The remaining two games have produced draws.
