Bengaluru FC will look to bounce back from a 1-2 away loss to Jamshedpur FC when it plays Mohammedan SC in an early kick-off at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium here on Saturday.

Despite being second in the table (27 points), behind Mohun Bagan Super Giant (32), the 2018-19 Indian Super League champion hasn’t been able to stay consistent.

After going six games unbeaten at the start of the season, BFC has won three, lost three and drawn two of its last eight matches. Though scoring goals hasn’t been a problem, the side, in the last eight fixtures, has shipped 18.

“We have to minimise the individual mistakes,” said Renedy Singh, who will be standing in for the suspended head coach Gerard Zaragoza. “Our players weren’t happy with the way we went down in the last game. But we had our chances, so there were positives to take.”

Mohammedan, on the other hand, is rooted to the bottom of the table with just seven points from 14 ties. But the positive is that it is coming into the contest on the back of consecutive 0-0 draws.

In the reverse fixture, the Kolkata club even led BFC until the 82nd minute before losing 1-2. If it wants to trouble the home side, it has to summon the same spirit and hold on to its new-found grit.

Safety net

As part of BFC’s #LouderThanEver campaign in support of awareness of crimes against women and creating safe spaces in the city, the club announced that their West Block-A stand will allow free entry for women.
