One young AFC Bournemouth fan was left devastated after missing out on Milos Kerkez’s shirt. The left-back, who has been linked with Liverpool, gave away his jersey after the Cherries thrashed Nottingham Forest 5-0 on Saturday.
After celebrating the big win, Kerkez removed his shirt and walked towards a group of young fans in the stands at the Vitality Stadium. Broadcast footage shows one supporter believing the Hungary international was going to hand him the shirt.
The youngster can be seen desperately trying to catch Kerkez’s attention but the Bournemouth star handed the shirt to a young girl instead. The boy looked extremely disappointed.
Kerkez enjoyed another positive performance for the high-flying Cherries against Forest. A 5-0 victory elevated the South Coast lifted into seventh.
Dango Ouattara struck a hat-trick either side of goals by Justin Kleivert and Antoine Semenyo. Bournemouth have now gone 12 games without losing.
Iraola said afterwards: “It was a great result. We knew we were facing a very good team on a very good run. To score first was key. Most of the last games they have been winning from the first half. The goal at the beginning helped us and made the game look better for us.”
Meanwhile, Kerkez has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester United. While speaking on a live YouTube broadcast, the 21-year-old was asked about a switch to Anfield.
One Liverpool fan demanded that Kerkez joins Liverpool. A Bournemouth supporter then asked him to remain.
After noticing the two comments, Kerkez insisted: “I will not go to Liverpool. For everybody listening, I will not go to Liverpool.”
It is a potential blow for Liverpool, who are keen to strengthen at left-back. Evidence suggests that Andy Robertson’s powers are on the wane, while Kostas Tsimikas has struggled to earn a regular place since his arrival nearly five years ago.
Liverpool are yet to make a signing during the January transfer window. Arne Slot has placed his trust in the players who have given the club a six-point lead in the Premier League title race. The Reds have a game in hand, which happens to be next month’s Merseyside derby against a rejuvenated Everton.
Federico Chiesa was Liverpool’s only summer arrival, although goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili will join the club from Valencia at the end of the season.
