It has been a miserable Premier League season for Manchester United as it finished 15th in the points table. Its woes continued even on a promotional tour, as it went down to ASEAN All-Stars in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday (May 28, 2025), leading to the fans jeering the players.
However, defender Harry Maguire believes that the ‘good times will come again’. In the city to attend the ‘United We Play’ programme, organised by the club’s sponsor Apollo Tyres, Maguire and his colleagues Diogo Dalot, and Andre Onana agreed that a lot needs to change.
“Everything needs to be improved on.
“This year has obviously been a difficult season in the Premier League, but I’m sure next season will be a lot different,” Maguire said.
Lot of changes
“We will make a lot of changes in the summer at the club. There will be a lot of players who leave and hopefully a lot of players will come in and that’s down to the club to make sure they get that right and it’s down to us players to make sure that we are the ones that are involved,” he added.
Dolot, too, agreed that there weren’t any excuses. “We need to take responsibility,” Dalot said. “There’s no place for you to hide when you play for a club like this because the exposure will always be there, the pressure will always be there.
“So, for you to be able to do that, you have to match it and you have to be ready for it. But now, it’s time for us to change and take that responsibility and I’m sure we will…”
As the Manchester United stars interacted with the young footballers at the Cooperage Ground, Maguire hoped to see a player from India making it to the Premier League in the future.
