Manchester City are reportedly plotting a move for Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso as Pep Guardiola plots a big-spending January.
City have been ravaged by injuries throughout the 2024/25 campaign and are looking to add bodies to their squad this month.
The Blues appear out of the title race, but Guardiola and co. are hoping to claw their way back into Champions League qualification contention.
While they’re yet to get any players through the door so far, as the January window edges towards its conclusion, the Premier League champions appear to be upping the ante.
According to reports in Italy, Cambiaso is the latest player City are targeting as they look to bolster their ranks this month.
It’s claimed talks with the Serie A outfit are planned but no official bid has been submitted yet. Juventus are reportedly looking for a fee in the region of £50million to part ways with the 24-year-old.
He’s been a regular in Thiago Motta’s side this season, featuring 25 times across all competitions for a Juventus side who are still unbeaten in Serie A.
However, Cambiaso wasn’t present for Juventus’ 2-0 victory at the Allianz Stadium over Guardiola’s men last month.
Cambiaso isn’t the only player being linked to an Etihad Stadium switch in January, with Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis also rumoured to be City-bound.
Marmoush, who has netted 20 goals already this season, is said to be valued around £67m by Eintracht Frankfurt but City are hoping to pay less for the in-form marksman.
At the opposite end of the pitch, a work permit is said to be holding up centre-back Khusanov’s switch from Ligue 1 outfit RC Lens. The Manchester-based outfit are expected to part with £33.5m to sign the Uzbekistan international.
Similarly, Reis has travelled to Manchester from Sao Paulo after Palmeiras accepted a £30m bid from City for the talented defender.
Meanwhile, Kyle Walker, who hasn’t featured in any of City’s last two matches is being tipped to leave the club, with both Milan clubs sniffing around the England international.
Commenting last week, Guardiola said: “Two days ago, Kyle asked to explore the options to play abroad at the end of his career.
“In his [Walker’s] mind, he would like to explore it, to go to another country, to play the last years [somewhere else] for many reasons. For that reason, I prefer playing other players whose mind is here.”
City return to action this weekend when they take on Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
