Manchester United chiefs are reportedly not concerned with Ruben Amorim’s current tactical approach to games.
The Red Devils slumped to their eighth Premier League defeat since Amorim’s arrival on Sunday after losing to fellow strugglers Tottenham.
It leaves United down in 15th just three places above the relegation zone, with the pressure already starting to build on the Portuguese tactician’s shoulders.
United are still going strong in the FA Cup and may have to rely on that competition for a route into Europe, given they’re currently 14 points off the top seven.
But the support from the United board doesn’t appear to have waivered yet, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co. still backing the ex-Sporting coach.
That’s according to GIVEMESPORT, who have revealed the INEOS-led hierarchy aren’t believed to be worried that Amorim hasn’t abandoned his principles despite the flurry of bad results.
The reasoning behind this is that United managers of yesteryear have been said to lack conviction in their decision-making – something that certainly can’t be levelled at Amorim.
Amorim has been quizzed on his unwillingness to shift tactically several times, stating last year: “If I change everything now, we are going to lose everything.”
While in a separate interview with Sky Sports, Amorim had earlier said: “Like I said, you cannot go back. We have to continue to push.
“Remember we had like four training sessions all together. So that is important. I know what you guys are trying to reach [for, with your questions] but it is really clear.
“I was here because of my idea and I will continue to do my idea until the end.”
It comes after pundit Richard Keyes claimed Amorim is already thinking about leaving United following his disastrous start as manager.
Writing in a blog post, he said: “They’ve got a manager who clearly doesn’t want to be there – a cycling expert in charge of football matters (who should never have been allowed back into pro sport after his time in charge of Team Sky) and an owner flailing about without a clue what to do next – except sack more good people.”
Amorim will be crossing his fingers and hoping for a result this weekend when United travel to in-form Everton.
