Man Utd could make three more signings before transfer window closes

Manchester United could reportedly land three more signings before the end of the summer transfer window. An eye-watering £130million has already been spent on Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.

A far bigger overhaul of Ruben Amorim’s squad is required to ensure United do not suffer another disastrous season. The only way is up after the Red Devils finished 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final against Tottenham. More new signings are expected to replace players who struggled in Amorim’s system in the second half of last term.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, United plan to sign up to three more players before the end of the window. A striker and a goalkeeper are the priorities at this stage of the summer. However, another midfielder could also be welcomed into Old Trafford.

Forwards Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee underwhelmed last season. RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is reportedly on United’s radar as an upgrade.

Goalkeeper Andre Onana also floundered last season. His error-prone displays cost United points. A new shot-stopper has been mooted as a possibility. Despite the club boasting vast quality in the centre of the pitch, a midfielder could also arrive at United.

Amorim insists that any player who joins United will need to fully buy into his project. The Portuguese coach told the club’s media channels: “They have to want to come here. I think what we can do to the fans is that we want players who have proved [themselves] already. Sometimes you have a player with a lot of potential, you have to be aware of that, but all the players that are coming, we need to know the player. We need to talk to the player, we have to explain the project.

“And then one really important thing is that they want to come here. That is the key point. If during the market we can find someone that can help the team and have all that boxes with them, we are going to do it. If not, we cannot do it because it’s an important time in our club.”

United may need to sanction significant departures before another major outlay. Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho remain at the club despite being told that they have no future under Amorim.
