Manchester United kick start their Premier League run-in with a daunting trip to Champions League-chasers Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night. Ruben Amorim will make multiple changes at the City Ground after losing one player to injury but welcoming a couple of names back from the sidelines.
Express Sport runs through the likely United team against Forest, featuring three switches from the 3-0 win at Leicester City two weeks ago.
Man Utd predicted XI vs Nottingham Forest (3-4-3)
Goalkeeper: Onana
Andre Onana will have to be at his best to keep a second successive clean sheet against Forest, who could be depleted by Chris Wood’s absence.
Defence: Mazraoui, De Ligt, Yoro
On Monday, Amorim confirmed that Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro had returned to contention after spells on the injury table.
Matthijs de Ligt is enjoying a strong patch of form and should remain at the heart of United back three, with Maguire offering cover on the bench.
Yoro could return, though, on the left of the defence, with Noussair Mazraoui on the other side, dropping deeper from wing-back.
Amorim also shared that Luke Shaw and Jonny Evans were both making positive progress in their respective recoveries, so they could become options again in the coming weeks.
Midfield: Dalot, Ugarte, Fernandes, Dorgu
Patrick Dorgu has served his three-match suspension, last playing a domestic game on February 26, and will almost certainly return to the starting lineup at left-wing-back.
Diogo Dalot covered the position in his absence and will move over to the right as he looks to build on recent positive showings.
Manuel Ugarte and Bruno Fernandes have formed a fruitful partnership in midfield and should continue operating next to each other.
Mason Mount may be eyeing his first minutes in months from the bench, having been an unused substitute at the King Power Stadium. Amorim says Kobbie Mainoo is nearing a return.
Attack: Garnacho, Zirkzee, Hojlund
Alejandro Garnacho has shown improvement as the right-sided attacking midfielder in Amorim’s 3-4-3 system, registering a goal involvement in three of his last four appearances.
The 20-year-old will be fresh after his exclusion from Argentina duty and is likely to start with Joshua Zirkzee behind the striker.
Rasmus Hojlund scored his first goal in 21 games to open the scoring against Leicester and then netted a winner for Denmark against Portugal.
Amorim needs his No. 9 to continue his momentum and keep providing goals as the season comes to a close.
